I have long been been interested in the connection between the mind and body, and how the two influence each other towards well being. I discovered acupuncture while I was serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia, West Africa. I was amazed by the relief patients experienced both physically and emotionally from the insertion of acupuncture needles on specific points. I became fascinated by this seemingly simple medicine. This therapy resonated with me as it utilized the points of the physical body to create both physical and emotional changes in patients. Upon my return to the states, I pursued a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. During my studies, I was fortunate to meet and begin studying with Madam Wu, an old world master acupuncturist. She embodies the rich spirit and deep knowledge of TCM (she even made her own needles). I am most appreciative of my time spent studying with her. She inspired me to be the holistic practitioner that I am today.

My interest in the study of energy and the power of the mind attracted me to the study of Tai Chi Chuan. My practice provides me the opportunity to quiet my mind, cultivate my qi, deepen my root and experience stillness in motion through relaxation. It allows me to deepen my ability to listen to energy, release resistance and experience stillness of mind. It allows me to further understand myself more fully.

I believe our thoughts create the life experience we are having. Reconnecting to our higher self is an essential part of the healing process. Our intuition guides us, and our ability to listen and trust this guidance expedites not only our healing process, but also our ability to fully experience joy and happiness in our lives. The mind commands great influence on the flow of energy in our lives and bodies towards vitality and well being. I find cultivating a daily meditation practice is essential to recognizing our inner guidance.

In addition to these pursuits, I also enjoy all things cooking, cat, hot springs, reading, and traveling. I have found a happy balance in my life and infuse this energy into all of my practices.
